Book Blitz: Keeping Her

Eek! I’m so excited for Keeping Her by Cora Carmack, the continuation of Garrick and Bliss’ relationship.

Keeping Her (Losing It, #1.5)

Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather . . . ahem . . . complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right?

But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren’t quite as ready for their future as they thought.

As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it.

Check out the first chapter plus some bonus Garrick POV scenes from LOSING IT.

Also, Cora Carmack is planning to donate 20% of all her royalties from this book to the charity Planting Peace for the life of the book. You can find out more about Planting Peace here:  http://www.plantingpeace.org/. Planting Peace is a progressive nonprofit organization founded for the purpose of spreading peace in a hurting world. Every dare brings an increased risk of bodily harm, but Ben cannot deny the thrill and sense of swagger that come with it. Book Blitz: Over The Rainbow

Welcome to the book blitz for Over the Rainbow by Brian Rowe.

Zippy Green never meant to fall in love with a girl, but when she does, her ultra-conservative father tries to send her to anti-gay camp. At the Kansas City airport, however, she hides inside a giant suitcase and sneaks onto an airplane headed not to the camp, but to Seattle, where her online love Mira lives. Halfway through the flight, the plane barrels out of control and crashes into the ground, knocking her unconscious.

When Zippy awakens, she finds that most of the passengers have vanished. She doesn’t know what’s happened, but she’s determined to find out. She begins a quest on foot toward Seattle, and along the way, she meets a teenager with a concussion, a homeless man with a heart condition, a child without a shred of bravery, and a terrier named Judy. Together the group discovers that more than two-thirds of the world’s population has mysteriously disappeared. But that’s only the beginning…

All Zippy wants is to find her Mira, but before she can she has to contend with two outside forces. The first is her homophobic father, who does everything in his power to keep her from the girl she loves. And the second is extinct creatures of all shapes and sizes, including living, breathing dinosaurs, which have replaced the missing population.

Book Blitz: Disneylanders

Welcome to my book blitz for Disneylanders by Kate Abbott.

In Disneylanders, 14-year-old Casey Allison, on the brink of starting high school, struggles to find a new identity on her family’s annual summer vacation, but with the help of an outgoing boy she meets while waiting in line, she discovers that Disneyland is the one place where her overprotective parents let her have the freedom to grow up.

Casey looks forward to her family’s annual summer vacation to Disneyland to escape her anxieties about starting high school. This summer, however, her vacation forces her to confront her parents’ ancient attitudes, getting dumped by her best friend, an intense crush, and a pack of gum-snapping girls who seem intent on ruining her vacation.

Her parents won’t accept she’s no longer a little kid, but she can’t fathom growing up to be like the bra-strap girls who seem to be following her. Worst of all, she fears that in order be accepted as “mature,” she’ll have to not only display her underwear but stop going to her beloved theme park. As she explores Disneyland—and her first romantic relationship—with Bert, the charming high school sophomore she meets, she realizes that she can overcome her real-world insecurities only when she’s in the Magic Kingdom.

As Casey and Bert banter in line for rides, they find that confessing the secrets they couldn’t share with anyone back home lets them both discover their true selves. Although they spend time in Fantasyland, they confront their real-life issues…Bert’s flaky parents, his precocious grandmother, and why he wears a watch that hasn’t worked in two years; Casey’s ex-best friend, her secret passion for old-school film photography, and her cast member crushes. By the last fireworks show, after she’s been on a wild ride of a summer vacation, Casey rediscovers herself and takes home new self confidence, along with a sentimental souvenir.

Interview

Favorite childhood book?

The Velveteen Rabbit, it’s not only a beautiful story but also quite sad. Plus I love rabbits, I used to have one in college (that I snuck into my dorm room).

 What is your writing process?

I usually create a very vague outline that gets dramatically changed as the story develops. I also create character pages, so I can keep everyone straight – personalities, physical traits, family lineage.

What do you like to do besides writing?

I love to read, which probably goes without saying. I also enjoy photography, video games, traveling and just hanging out with my friends.

How did you come up with creating Cabal, the dystopian society in Aberrant? What inspired you?

The name itself, Cabal, comes from its definition. “A small group of secret plotters,” which I felt fitting for a dystopian society. I wanted the name to signify a revolution, because Cabal is not the perfect society that the government wishes and pretends it to be. I wanted Cabal to strive for Utopian but instead of being perfect, it was something else entirely.

The inspiration itself comes from most of us striving towards perfection. I don’t think there are many people that want a world without jobs, filled with homeless people that are starving. I think it’s easy to see what’s going on in society, what’s happening now and see a glimpse of the current world in its worst. It made me want to imagine a better world and then I realized how would this perfect world be flawed?

In few words, why should we read your book?

I believe Aberrant will appeal to readers who liked the suspense of The Hunger Games, the thrill-seeking tests of Divergent and the romance and unique abilities of Graceling.

Whitney Denison can’t wait to start over.

She thought she had everything under control, that her future would always include her best friend Katie… Until everything changed.

Now her life in Bloom is one big morning after hangover, filled with regret, grief, and tiny pinpricks of reminders that she was once happy. A happy she ruined. A happy she can’t fix.

So, she is counting down the days until she leaves home for Colson University, cramming her summer with busywork she didn’t finish her senior year, and taking on new hobbies that involve glue and glitter, and dodging anyone who reminds her of her old life.

When she runs into the stranger who drove her home on graduation night, after she’d passed out next to a ditch, she feels herself sinking again. The key to surviving the summer in Bloom is unraveling whatever good memories she can from that night.

But in searching for answers, she’ll have to ask for help and that means turning to Evan, the stranger, and Kyle, Katie’s ex-boyfriend. Suddenly, life flips again, and Whitney finds herself on not only the precipice of happy but love, too, causing her to question whether she can trust her feelings, or if she is falling into her old patterns of extremes.

As she uncovers the truth about her memories, Whitney sees that life isn’t all or nothing, and that happy isn’t something to wait for, that instead, happy might just be a choice.

Coleen Patrick grew up in New Jersey, Virginia, Michigan, Louisiana, and Indiana. Always being the new kid, she learned that books and friends are precious—and dessert. She never met a dessert she didn’t like (except for flan).

Book Blitz: The Only Exception

Welcome to my post today to celebrate the release of The Only Exception by Magan Vernon.

Fiercely liberal Monica Remy prefers to blend in. Despite her tattoos, piercings, and outspoken personality, she transferred to Central to escape—before she finds out that her next door neighbor is the uber conservative governor son, Trey Chapman.
No matter how hard she tries to avoid Trey, he still finds a way to get under her skin. Monica can’t stand his crisp white shirts or his staunch views on women. But she can’t help counting every freckle on his face and wondering what it would feel like to have him stop talking politics and kiss her.
A class debate project forces the unlikely pair to work together, and the political lines are blurred in late-night make out sessions. But despite their fiery chemistry, Trey’s politics threatens to smother their relationship for good.

Interview with Magan

What inspired you to write The Only Exception?

For the past few years I’ve wanted to write a book with a conservative guy and liberal girl,
but just couldn’t come up with a plot, so I put it aside. During the presidential election an episode
of NEW GIRL aired in which Schmidt pretended to be the imaginary sixth son of Mitt Romney,
Thugg and some girls that used to be part of their local college Republican chapter. That got my
wheels turning and I thought about a conservative governor’s son going to college and what it
would be like for someone with the opposite views living next door to him. Trey Chapman was
born.

Is this a stand alone or will there be a sequel?

This is a planned stand alone. I have been working on a companion novel with the
character’s two best friends, but there are no current plans to continue on with the story at this
time.

If you had to cast the characters in a movie, who would play them?

Always one of my favorite questions. For Trey it would be a mixture of Max Greenfield and
Colton Haynes (if somehow science could make them have a baby. For Monica, Emma Stone
has that spunkiness yet vulnerability. For John Boy, wrestler The Miz is the first person to come
to mind. For Monica’s best friend Melanie, Emmy Rossum is the closest I’ve found. And I have
to admit that Trey’s dad, the governor, was inspired by a certain governor and former Republican
presidential candidate from MA.

Did you plot this novel out or write from the hip?

A little bit of both. I actually wrote the first half on my computer and sent to my Alpha
reader and then I wasn’t sure what I wanted to happen in the middle so I wrote the last half on
my iPad since that was what was in my head. It eventually all worked together.

What books do you have coming out next?

I’m due with my second child at the end of April, so I’m trying not to plan too much, but
I do have the sequel to my New Adult title, My Paper Heart, coming out this summer titled On
Paper Wings. It continues Libby and Blaine’s story and will focus more on her eating disorder
and his commitment issues. After that I’d really like to get out a companion novel to The Only
Exception about Melanie and John Boy.

Magan Vernon is a Young Adult and New Adult writer who lives with her family in the insurance capital of the world. She is in a very serious, fake relationship with Adam Lambert and constantly asks her husband to wear guyliner. He still refuses. She also believes her husband is secretly an alien, disguised as a southern gentleman.

Book Blitz: Picture Perfect by Camille Dixon + giveaway!

Welcome to my post for the Book Blitz of Picture Perfect by Camille Dixon.

This NA romance is due to be published on March 26th.

On the outside, Devin Thompson looks like he has it all – charm, good looks, and a scholarship every art major at Sanhope would kill for. But on the inside, he’s dying. His family is falling apart, his grades are dropping, and his girlfriend just dumped him for his hockey team rival, who also happens to be his younger brother. Not to mention he hasn’t been able to snap a decent picture for his senior portfolio in weeks. But when a sultry redhead with fire burning in her eyes struts across his path, he thinks he may have finally found his muse…

Angela “Angel” Davis learned early on that life never offers any hand-outs. And she’s getting burned out. Between juggling her nights as an exotic dancer at a men’s private club and struggling to keep up with her elementary education courses during the day, she barely has time to think of the future. Not that she wants to. The future implies planning, and Angel is no stranger to broken dreams. Then she meets Devin, a man who’s so wrong for her, yet she can’t seem to stay away from.

When Devin offers to take her on as his private model, Angel finds the cash hard to refuse. Each has something the other desperately needs, and neither one is willing to walk away. As their professional relationship spirals out of control into something more, they learn sometimes the wrong person can be the only right person, and that life – and people – are rarely picture perfect.

I enclose for you an excerpt from the book:

The Fox Hunt had several private viewing rooms for one-on-one’s and VIP parties, all
coordinated with a different color scheme. Blue was close by, so it didn’t take long for me to get
there. After readjusting my bustier, I applied a sultry smile and slinked past the curtain.
Soft golden lights dotted the room, the walls of which were hidden by dark blue silk
curtains. Non-scented candles burned on the two onyx tables in the room, highlighting the
sensual, relaxed atmosphere. Beneath the curtains, the walls were padded, making them all
but completely soundproof from the noise out on the main floor. Plush satin pillows dripping
in tassels lay strewn about the floor, gathering next to the centerpiece of the room – a massive
throne carved with the same embellishments as the tables.
Spying the figure lounged in the chair, my ruby lips pursed then twisted into a sly smile.
“Huh. What do you know. You did have the cash after all,” I said as I sauntered forward.
The stranger from earlier never flinched. One dark brow rose in a comical arc. “Do you
always start these things by insulting your clients?”
“Depends. Do insults and word play turn you on, or are you a more of a physical kind
of guy?” I grabbed a sash from atop the pillows, grasping both ends before hooking it around
the stranger’s neck and climbing onto his lap. Most men shivered or showed some semblance
of intimidation when I came close, but not this guy. He held himself like a man who was
comfortable around women. Something dark and hot stirred deep inside me, shooting adrenaline
into my veins.
Challenge accepted.

And now for the giveaway!

One winner will receive an ebook of Picture Perfect by Camille Dixon. Open internationally.
